Chapter 6 : Dilemmatic yet Interesting Decision
On 5th January 2010, I had only 3 days left to decide between MSc Business System Integration program at Brunel University or MSc E-Business and Innovation program at Lancaster University. I asked for suggestions from some friends, I started to compare and learn about the curriculum of both programs, I searched for more information on the internet about the university ranking, the alumni of both programs, the geographic conditions, and also anything useful that would help me to decide.
Here are some reasons why I would like to choose the MSc E-Business and Innovation program at Lancaster University:
1. According to Guardian university guide Computer Sciences & IT 2010 and The Sunday Times University Guide 2010, Lancaster University is highly rated as top 20 university in the UK. Lancaster University is also one of the top 200 university in the world.
2. There is a special partnership with IBM to deliver one module of the program and there is an integration of SAP in one core module of the program.
3. There is a company-based dissertation projects.
4. There is no need to submit a tuition fee deposit of 3000 pound for the applicants who has been offered a place in the program. The applicants will pay the tuition fee after they have enrolled at the university.
5. Overall, the program offers variety of scopes in Information Technology and Management area.
And, here are some reasons why I would like to choose the MSc Business System Integration program at Brunel University:
1. There is an integration of SAP for the whole modules in the program.
2. There is a chance to win a Brunel International Scholarship for the amount of 3000 pound.
3. There will be a chance to do the company-based dissertation project for some selected best students.
4. The campus location is in the west London, so the temperature is warmer than Lancaster. The campus location is also close with the Heathrow International Airport.
5. Brunel University has a partnership with Indonesian Britain Education Center, so it will be easier for the applicants from Indonesia to ask for helps and guidances.
6. Overall, the program offers integrated modules which are focused on Business Integration area.
Therefore, I finally picked the MSc Business System Integration program at Brunel University. Although I missed a chance to study at the one of the top 200 university in the world, I believe that it will be better for me to learn something which is more focused on Business Integration area. I also believe that I will gain more benefits from what I’m going to learn at Brunel University, especially the using of SAP technology in business integration.
